UNILAG Prohibits Skitmaking and Content Creation on Campus

The University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, has officially announced a ban on the unauthorized use of its campus environment — including academic buildings, hostels, and other university facilities — for video production activities by skitmakers, filmmakers, and social media content creators.

In a statement issued on Thursday, October 28, and signed by the institution’s Head of Communication, Mrs. Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, the university expressed deep concern over the increasing number of individuals who have been gaining access to the campus to shoot skits, short films, and various forms of online content without obtaining prior authorization.

According to the statement, such activities often disrupt the academic atmosphere, infringe on students’ privacy, and misrepresent the institution’s image to the public. The management emphasized that while it recognizes the creativity and potential of Nigeria’s growing entertainment industry, all content production within UNILAG’s premises must follow due process and receive official approval from the university authorities.

The statement further warned that any individual or group found flouting this directive would face strict disciplinary measures and possible legal action. UNILAG reiterated its commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and conducive environment for learning, urging members of the public to cooperate with the institution in preserving the integrity of its campus.
