Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has officially appointed Munirat Antoinette Lecky—widely recognized as Anto Lecky, a former Big Brother Naija housemate—as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Tourism and Creative Economy.
The appointment was confirmed through an official letter issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor. According to the letter, the appointment takes effect from June 23, 2025.
Lecky, who gained public prominence through her appearance on the reality TV show Big Brother Naija, is also known for her background in business, media, and advocacy. In her new role, she is expected to bring her expertise and visibility to the state’s growing tourism and creative sectors.
Her appointment comes at a critical time, as the Edo State Government intensifies efforts to position the state as a leading hub for cultural tourism and the creative economy. With ongoing initiatives such as the return of the looted Benin bronzes, the development of new museum infrastructures, and the promotion of local arts and heritage, Lecky’s role will be pivotal in amplifying these projects to both national and international audiences.
Part of the official statement reads: “I write to inform you that the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved your appointment as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Tourism and Creative Economy with effect from June 23, 2025.”
Lecky’s appointment signals the administration’s commitment to leveraging youth influence and creative industry potential to drive cultural revival and economic development in Edo State.
