The Lagos State Government has sounded the alarm over potential contamination of underground water in the Lekki area. According to Mahmood Adegbite, Permanent Secretary of the Office of Drainage Services and Water Resources, many residents relying on boreholes for water may be consuming unsafe water.
Adegbite made the assertion during a recent stakeholders’ meeting, warning that untreated wastewater in the Lekki axis is seeping into the water table and posing serious health risks to residents. This situation raises concerns about the safety of drinking water for those dependent on boreholes in the area.
